At 9:50 PM, the men observed a sphere of light that emerged from the mountain and hovered over the fire. Raul paused a moment to ascertain whether or not the light might be a helicopter, however, the light did not move, nor did it illuminate the fire zone.  He set the timer on his camera and began to take photographs at 10 second increments. (Raul indicates that the complete series of 24 are available by request.)  Raul informs us that after about the sixth or seventh picture, he asked the UFO to increase its size, and the UFO became larger!  He then said, "Please move," and the object responded by gently drifting toward the east (right side of the picture area).

Carlos exclaimed, "It's incredible! The UFO is responding to you!"

As the UFO began to move, the fire started to die down, and when the UFO disappeared, the fire disappeared also!  The fire was extinguished despite a strong wind and unfavorable location of an area difficult to access by firefighters.

This UFO sighting was announced on the Jaime Maussan Radio Program in Mexico City on 25 April 1999.  During the live interview, Raul related the possibility that a fire, and perhaps a small volcanic eruption were actually caused by the UFO which controlled the event!
