Why should Aliens be evil?

I think that the 'evil' version of aliens has been brought to us by comic books, movies etc. Assuming that these Aliens are super-intelligent and that they have incredible technology, why can they be so stupid?

I mean, if they have the superior technology, they could enslave humanity in less than a week! Then why abduct people one by one, and not just take 'em all in one big operation?

Don't get me wrong - I DO believe - but I doubt it that these beings are evil.

P.S. : To me, the 'evil' alien is just a modern version of the old evil Satan.
