It was the 12th of August 2002. I was walking downtown Victoria with a friend of mine when I was a bright light in the sky. It looked like a shooting star from eye snap-shot but then I crouched and I saw it flying above the city. It had no trail (like shooting stars have), it was flying in a straight line of motion (i could tell easily that it wasn't flying through the Earth's atmosphere but rather in the sky, like a jet; shooting stars have a curved motion since they enter the atmosphere). The objet was moving at great speed and I would add that it was flying a bit less faster than a shooting star. It is important to note that there was no noise of engine of any kind. And the most surprising detail regarding the object was that there was a kind of circular fading white "color" surrounding the object. Please contact me if you need further details.
