Subject: Is someone being taken?

There is a question I must ask that has been hanging in the back of my mind for almost a year now. Has someone in my house been abducted by alien creatures? Crazy question? Yes. Crazy person? I sure hope not. 

About this time last year, a bright light woke me in the middle of the night (12:30-ish), and oddly, at the same time I couldn't move or open my eyes. Then, sooner than the light came, it left, and by the time I sat up, everything was normal in my room. The next morning, I questioned everyone about the light in my room the night before. No one was up at that time. Is it possible that someone was up and too tired to remember? Yes. Likely? No, but more likely than little green men (or grey if you prefer). However, that does not explain why I couldn't even move my fingers, or head. Nor does it explain why it seemed the light was so quick. I would deeply appreciate your help in this. Is there anyone that you've heard of that has had this happen before? Please let me know. I haven't had this happen before or since, but I need to know if it is more likely paranormal, if you will. There's a baby on the way, and I've read about alien abduction running in the family.
