Lights in the forest

My friends and I, were driving around late one night in maine. We drove throgh the a forest and saw two lights the size of a racoons eyes. we thought it was just animals eyes reflectng the car headlights. We circled the forest again and came to that same spot. There were two lights as big as flashlights. We were geting a bit freaked. circled one more time and saw two lights as big as car head lights. We circled one last time and found ourselves staring at a unearthly blinding light. We got extreamly freaked out and drove out of the forest. We went back to see if there were any footprints in case it was a prank. Nothing. Absoloutly nothing. the grass was fresh and not even the slightest bit bent. The next few weeks the nuber 23 appeared everywere. It continues to this day. We were teenagers then, and the lights have remained a mystery ever since.
